Peter Soboroff, DVM, MS

Chief of Staff

Dr. Soboroff’s lifelong love of cats led to the establishment of New York Cat Hospital in 2006.

Originally from Chicago, he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in wildlife biology at the University of Illinois. Thereafter, he worked as a wildlife biologist for the Illinois Natural History Survey participating in research on badgers and waterfowl.

Seeking further education and career opportunities, Dr. Soboroff graduated from the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, subsequently completing a post-graduate internship at NYC’s Animal Medical Center.

Dr. Soboroff is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and the Veterinary Information Network.

He remains thrilled and grateful to have the opportunity to focus his attention exclusively on cats, allowing an ever-deepening understanding and appreciation of these endlessly engaging and fascinating animals.

On those rare occasions, he is not at the cat hospital, he enjoys spending time with his family and home cats (Opie, Pepsi, and Cola).  He is also an avid runner and completes an annual solo fundraising marathon for senior cat rescue.  In 2019, he raised over $50,000 for this important cause.
